Practices to Still the Mind - A free one-hour session: sound and mantra

A busy mind doesn’t need to be forced quiet. With the right support, stillness arises on its own. This session offers two simple, time-honoured practices to help you settle, turn inward and find a steadier place to rest.

Making practice easy
We begin with a 30-minute talk on the simple things you can put in place to help a daily practice take root: your space, your timing, and the small rituals that make sitting down feel natural rather than effortful.

Without expectation
We’ll also explore how to approach meditation with openness rather than goals: why there’s no “doing it right,” and how letting go of expectation is often where the practice begins to deepen.

Bhramari – the humming bee breath
We then settle the nervous system with Bhramari, a soft humming sound that quiets the mind and draws the attention inward.

So Hum japa meditation
We close with 20 minutes of japa meditation using So Hum, a universal mantra that moves with the natural rhythm of the breath: so on the inhale, hum on the exhale. Its quiet meaning, I am that, offers a gentle anchor for the mind.
