YOGA

Yoga teaches us how to direct and harness our energy through awareness, cultivating balance and a deeper sense of connection.

By focusing on the breath, lengthening the spine, releasing the psoas, and opening the torso through to the crown, the nervous system settles and emotions ease.

This deeper breathing improves digestion and immunity, steadies mind and body, and builds both emotional and physical strength.

I discovered Sivananda Yoga thirty years ago and never looked back. I trained in the Sivananda tradition in Kerala, completing my 500 hours under Swami Govindananda Saraswati. I chose this path deliberately, to learn from monks, to immerse myself in a lineage tracing back to 800 AD, and to understand a non-Western view of life's meaning.

I've stayed close to this lineage for almost thirty years, weaving in what I've discovered through quiet, self-led practice since living in Southwest France, and adapting it into classes that are simple, yet engaging enough that the mind wants to return and practice again.

Repetition of the same practice — moving in and out of understanding — has taught me more than chasing something new every time I hit a stuck point. This consistency is the backbone of my teaching: a steady rhythm that moves through the breath and the body until the mind has nowhere left to go but quiet.

With regular practice, you'll notice your breath lengthen, your shoulders drop, your body remember how to rest. That physical ease is what eventually carries into how you think and decide.

The freedom is in discovering what it means to let go of trying to get the pose right, and to return to your body, again and again, with honesty and compassion.

SWAMI GOVINDANANDA SARASWATI
They say your teacher appears when the student is ready. I had the fortune of meeting Swami Govindananda on a trip to Kerala in 2013 and have appreciated his guidance since. A true master of energy management and delivering Yogic philosophy in an uncomplicated and practical way to apply to our contemporary Western lifestyles. He taught me the benefits of teaching and practising slowly to feel a deep sense of peace.
